 | County Semi Final For Coláistes 1st Year Girls We travelled to Youghal for the quarterfinal. Their new facilities giving us a taste of what we can expect when our new sports hall arrives next year. The game began at a lively pace. We controlled possession for long periods and got plenty of shots up but unfortunately the ball didn’t want to drop through the basket. Our defense was working hard with the opposition finding it difficult to get time on the ball. Our only score of the quarter came from Fiona Healy. 0-2 to Coláiste at the end of the 1st quarter. A new 5 players entered the fray continuing the good defensive work of the girls before them. While we were dictating the play we could only add another basket to our total courtesy of Chloe Flynn. Into the third and Youghal had their purple patch scoring 5 to our 4. Fiona having her number marked twice on the score sheet making it 5-8 entering the final quarter. The game was put to bed when Katie Scollard and Fiona made it 6-14 at the final whistle. While we found it hard to convert our possession in to scores our defensive effort was excellent. A testament to the Coláiste girls who have shown incredible dedication since picking up the basketball for the first time in September.
